hen Harrison met Deloris, he was looking for a beautiful women with long hair and a bright, positive outgoing personality who would wear his hair fashion designs and promote his long hair styling business. He didn't know this business meeting would evolve into a discussion about his dream to launch a website where fictional CyberHeroesTM reach across the digital divide to make positive changes in the real world.
He certainly had no idea that six months later they would fall deeply in love and this project would become a partnership where they could combine their talents in a shared mission to create a brighter future for children around the world.
The foundation for building this brighter future is the restoration of balance between men and women and the recognition that having children is a responsibility, not a right.
Harrison's commitment to this mission grew out of his experiences as a hairstylist. During that 25 year career, he saw far too many clients in relationships with abusive men. He learned from those women that they first were abused by men when they were children.
Deloris’ commitment came as a surprise early in her well planned career. As a young professional Deloris was being groomed to become the “first woman on 60 minutes” while she worked as a news anchor, reporter and talk show host at a cable TV station. Thru this work, Deloris discovered she really wanted to help young people achieve their potential. She initially thought she had to “be someone” special to do this and anchoring the news demonstrated she “was someone.” When covering a story about a 15-year-old boy who died of alcohol poisoning, Deloris realized she was not content to report about it, she had to do something to prevent it from happening again.
Once Deloris received a job offer to move into the next market, she realized she could pursue her dream of having a positive impact on young people without a career in broadcasting. Deloris left her chosen field of Broadcast Journalism, set aside her dreams and began devoting her life to her own children and to teens in her community.
These real life experiences make it easy for Deloris to play the part of CyberReporterTM, Rosa Amorosa, in the fictional stories at BensArmy.com. Although more comfortable in the background, Harrison plays the lead, Benjamin Blue Eyes.
Written by Harrison, these imaginary cyberadventures follow the time honored tradition of using storytelling to teach truth and inspire positive changes in people's lives. Readers will also want to “Live the Adventure Every Day” as the stories end with a cliffhanger each day. Photo by Dana Milner Photography
